Sharing tools and methods for bridging the gaps between science and climate-resilient urban design and planning
The UCCRN_edu is an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership, launched by world-leading Higher Education Institutions dedicated to fostering multidisciplinary knowledge-based cross-sectoral actions on climate change mitigation and adaptation from an urban perspective. The partnership, together with the Associated Partners, including international research and education institutions and networks aimed to overcome existing gaps in education on climate-resilient urban planning, design, and governance. In this line, an educational alliance is developed to form the next generation of urban climate leaders, able to navigate the complexity of the interconnected knowledge domains to foster urban climate action as hybrid and multidisciplinary new professionals, real factors of change in research, design, and policymaking.
The 9th UCCRN_edu Multiplier Event took place on 31st October 2024 in Charleroi (Belgium), hosted by the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning of the University of Mons and aimed at the dissemination of the showcase of Porte Ouest workshop results, but also the discussion of opportunities and perspectives for collaboration with local partners to capitalize the UCCRN_edu methods and tools and develop future synergies. Keynote speakers for this event, Dr. Etienne Hannon, Programme manager Science and Policy of Belgian Climate Centre (https://www.climatecentre.be/) and Prof. Jeffrey Raven of New York Institute of Technology.
