Shaping and sharing tools and methods for bridging the gaps between science and climate-resilient urban design and urban planning
UCCRN_edu is an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership, launched by world-leading Higher Education Institutions which include members of the Urban Climate Change Research Network (UCCRN), an international consortium dedicated to foster multidisciplinary knowledge-based cross-sectoral action on climate change mitigation and adaptation from an urban perspective.
The project aims to develop an educational alliance to train the next generation of urban climate professionals in navigating the complexity of the interconnected knowledge domains linked to urban climate action in cities.
The sixth UCCRN_edu Multiplier Event will take place in Rio de Janeiro from March 25 to April 5, 2024, with a series of education, knowledge exchange and dissemination activities, including Urban Design Climate Workshop (UDCW) sessions and panels with the participation of UCCRN_edu Associated Partners and local stakeholders.
The Multiplier Event will be hosted by the UCCRN_edu Associated Partners Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Rio de Janeiro and UCCRN Latin American Hub, and will be the opportunity to test the replication potential of UCCRN_edu methods and tools in the Latin American context.
The UDCW will involve students from PUC-Rio, UNINA and NYIT, called to develop climate-resilient urban design scenarios for the area of São Cristóvão grounded on scientific evidence and community priorities. A first panel will involve UCCRN Hub Directors and IPCC authors from around the globe to discuss key messages and findings from the UCCRN Third Assessment Report on Climate Change and Cities.
The final dissemination event will present the UDCW results and include a roundtable with local stakeholders and representatives from UCCRN_edu sister projects in EU and US, such as Horizon Europe UP2030 and NSF City as Lab.
